Take Advantage of 40+ Miles of Gravity-Fed Trails at Trestle Bike Park this Summer!

Winter Park Resort is more than a ski destination. In summer, the mountain transforms into a downhill biking mecca when Trestle, the United States' largest full-service downhill bike park right here in our little town of Winter Park, opens up for the season. The old "earn your turns" expression takes a backseat as bikers take advantage of the gondola and lift rides up to hop on the adrenaline-fueled descents ending at the resort's base. From smoother, wider trails designed for the beginner downhill rider to "expert only" trails with steep terrain and jumps for days, the Trestle trail crew has created something for everyone.

The bike park opened its first trail,…

Big Snows, Bluebird Days + A Calendar Full of Events Make Winter Park Your Go-to for Celebrating Spring Mountain-Style

Spring might mean daffodils and tank tops in other parts of the country. Here in Grand County, we live it up with après skis on a patio or soaking in the view of the "Bear Claw" while kick backed in a sun chair outside Lunch Rock. But we might be wearing tank tops (and snow pants) if that mountain sun is hitting just right!

Spring in the high country is about as good as it gets. As we thaw out from winter, the enthusiasm for getting on the mountain and enjoying the warmer weather is in the air throughout the valley. Something about the longer days, big snows, and (relatively) balmy 40-degree temperatures brings out the festive…

February Fun: Fraser's 2nd Annual Fire + Ice Festival

Fraser hosted its first Fire + Ice Festival last February, and it was such a fan-favorite that they are making it a tradition. This year's 2nd Annual Fire + Ice Festival is turning it up a notch by coupling it with the Colorado State Snow Sculpting Festival. The Town of Fraser and Fraser's Public Arts Committee put on the party, complete with a DJ, hot chocolate, light sticks, food trucks, an epic bonfire paying homage to Christmas trees of yore, and fireworks to top it all off. Head over to the Lion's Ponds by Safeway Saturday, February 11th between 4 and 8pm for Fraser's mid-winter festivities.

THE BONFIRE

The "fire" in the Fire + Ice Festival is in large part the massive bonfire fueled…

Enjoy Après Ski at 10, 700ft at Winter Park's Sunspot Mountaintop Lodge

The committed get up (and often drive up) early to get "first chair" on a powder day. First tracks on a blanket of snow have been likened to the "backstage pass" of skiing, and if you've ever had the privilege, you know there's truly nothing like it. While there's stiff competition for the coveted first chair, there isn't typically as much hype around "last chair"--until you start taking advantage of mountaintop après at Winter Park Resort's Sunspot Mountaintop Lodge! When all the other lifts have stopped turning for the day, the Gondola keeps running so that you can enjoy a one-of-a-kind après ski experience at Sunspot's Mountaintop Après. Live music, signature cocktails,…
