Enjoy Après Ski at 10, 700ft at Winter Park's Sunspot Mountaintop Lodge

The committed get up (and often drive up) early to get "first chair" on a powder day. First tracks on a blanket of snow have been likened to the "backstage pass" of skiing, and if you've ever had the privilege, you know there's truly nothing like it. While there's stiff competition for the coveted first chair, there isn't typically as much hype around "last chair"--until you start taking advantage of mountaintop après at Winter Park Resort's Sunspot Mountaintop Lodge! When all the other lifts have stopped turning for the day, the Gondola keeps running so that you can enjoy a one-of-a-kind après ski experience at Sunspot's Mountaintop Après. Live music, signature cocktails, appetizers, and sunset views of the Continental Divide complete with alpenglow make the last chair almost as good as the first.

Looking to make first and last chair part of your day-to-day? Thinking about an investment property that doubles as a getaway and involves happy hour at almost 11,000 feet? Or has the alpenglow already stolen your heart and you're searching for a long-term place to get out of Grand County's competitive rental market and put down roots? Check out current listings and reach out with any questions!

THE HOURS

Sunspot does it right every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 4-7pm from now until April 1. You can either stop by after a day on the mountain, take the Gondola up (free after 4pm), or "earn your turns" and uphill ski from the base of Winter Park Resort to join the party at the top of the mountain. Skinning up to Sunspot as the sun goes down is one of our favorite ways to end the day! It's just another reason we're grateful to call this place home. Whether you live in Winter Park, Fraser, Tabernash, Granby, Hot Sulphur Springs, or even Grand Lake, buzzing up to the resort for a few turns and some après is just a typical weekend afternoon here in Grand County.

THE MUSIC

The views and alpenglow in and of themselves are enough to make a stop at Sunspot's après at least once this winter, and the music line up makes it all the more enticing. Right now, they have artists booked through the end of February:

Thursday, January 26: Andy Straus

Friday, January 27: Derek Dames Ohl duo

Saturday, January 28: Mick Balder duo

Thursday, February 2: Tara Rose

Friday, February 3: Woodbelly

Saturday, February 4: Hall Pass Bluegrass

Thursday, February 9: Andy & Michael K.

Friday, February 10: Hunker Down Trio

Saturday, February, 11: Laney Lou & the Bird Dogs

Thursday, February 16: Tyler Grant

Friday, February 17: Matt Holiday & Eric Delaney

Saturday, February 18: Michael Kirkpatrick, TG

Thursday, February 23: Danjo Harris

Friday, February 24: Kory & Andy

Saturday, February 25: Ghost Town Drifters

They'll be adding more musicians to the line up as the ski season goes on, and we'll update the list when they do!

THE MENU

With hot chocolate for the kids, signature cocktails like Mountaintop Michelada, The Explorer, and The Zephyr, spiced wine, and plenty of beer on tap, Sunspot's drink menu has something for everyone. Do you have a season pass? Flash it for a $5 Mary Jane Ale draft. They even serve up some appetizers to dig in to as you tap your foot along with the music: Bone-in wings, Wisconsin cheese curds, and ahi tuna nachos might be calling your name after a day of working up an appetite.
