Take Advantage of 40+ Miles of Gravity-Fed Trails at Trestle Bike Park this Summer!
Winter Park Resort is more than a ski destination. In summer, the mountain transforms into a downhill biking mecca when Trestle, the United States' largest full-service downhill bike park right here in our little town of Winter Park, opens up for the season. The old "earn your turns" expression takes a backseat as bikers take advantage of the gondola and lift rides up to hop on the adrenaline-fueled descents ending at the resort's base. From smoother, wider trails designed for the beginner downhill rider to "expert only" trails with steep terrain and jumps for days, the Trestle trail crew has created something for everyone.
The bike park opened its first trail, Free Speech, in the summer of 2009 and has spent the last decade plus adding terrain and fine tuning jumps, berms, rock gardens, and the park's overall layout. The hard work has paid off: Trestle now boasts dozens of trails with over 40 miles of riding, all accessible from the Olympia lift, Explorer lift, and gondola. They've even added a new uphill option (uphill pass required) to access the trails without the lift ride (for those who really can't get enough of pedaling)! The lifts are slated to start turning when all Winter Park Base activities open for the summer on Friday, June 16, so it's time to dust off your downhill bike (or rent one!) to get ready to experience the ski area on two wheels!
