Uptripping Art Gallery Brings an Eclectic Mix of Modern Mountain Art, Furnishings, Clothes + More to the Fraser Valley

When you walk in the door, it's clear this isn't your run-of-the-mill art gallery. The funky, whimsical vibe makes a visit to Uptripping so much more than a shopping trip - we'd consider it more of an experience. Think of it as an art gallery meets eclectic boutique meets the-perfect-last-minute-gift stop. You'll find art from local artists, each with their unique style and take on modern mountain art, alongside original works by village chiefs from Kenya, children in Nepal, and at-risk women in Kyrgyzstan. Racks of artistically embroidered denim shirts, Free People fleece bib overalls, and colorful thick knit cardigans will definitely up your fashion game in the sea of down vests and athleisure typical for our little mountain town. High-end modern furniture cozies up the place, and colorful faux taxidermy puts a twist on the mountain aesthetic. Turn around, and you'll likely (literally) laugh out loud a gift bag that reads, "I'll keep it if you don't like it," a Bob Ross magnetic play set, or a gift towel that says, "I can't make everyone happy. I'm not bacon." Necklaces with pendants made of original artwork, rings in the shape of ski goggles, and conversation piece coasters just add to the spirit of the place. Uptripping dubs itself "art and furnishings for the adventurous." We couldn't agree more.

Located right in the heart of Cooper Creek Square's lower level, Uptripping's central location in downtown Winter Park makes it easy to swing by after a day on the mountain. And they're just downstairs from our West + Main office, so you know we're always popping in to check out their ever-changing inventory!

While the featured artists can ebb and flow, you'll aways find original work by Shannon Foley Henn, owner of Uptripping. Her pop art style has won the hearts of locals. Even if you haven't been into Uptripping, you've likely seen her work gracing the brick walls of Cooper Creek Square - the larger than life posters feature a few pieces from her "Winter Park Series," an ambitious undertaking to create colorful, one-of-a-kind pieces for a wealth of community events. Her "Après Ski" series is one of our favorites. The quirky series features famous musicians infused with a ski town aesthetic. Think the Beastie Boys riding a chair lift or Bob Marley sporting ski goggles. From wall prints to decorative pillows to coasters, the options make it easy to rock the series in your own home.

You're sure to find Linda Israel's original work at Uptripping as well!  Painting out of her studio in Grand Lake, Linda's vibrant, colorful paintings bring out the spirit in each one of her animal subjects. We're lucky enough to display a canvas print of one of her iconic bear paintings in our office!

Topher Straus focuses on another equally striking aspect of mountain living: landscapes. His digital artwork has an impressionist flair, giving new dimension to mountainscapes, ski slopes, and skies. He doesn't hide his love for the ski town, and his pieces that depict Winter Park will make you fall even more in love with this place!

Currently, Uptripping also displays Scott Bullock's work. Llamas doing yoga, bears ice fishing and skiing, and deer kayaking mix whimsy, humor, and fun with a lot of talent. So his work fits right in at Uptripping.

The talent just keeps on coming. The works of George Wheelhouse, Rocket Jack Design, and more can also typically be found on display. They've curated the works of brilliant artists with distinct individual styles that coalesce into the eclectic beauty of Uptripping. It's no wonder they've been voted the best art gallery in Grand County repeatedly!

Not only do they feature local artists, Uptripping also gives the opportunity for all local artists to showcase their work during the monthly "First Friday" events every summer. Artists are invited to set up a table to display their work right outside of Uptripping. Live music, free wine and beer, and sweet summer vibes make First Fridays worth marking on your calendar!

Whether you're furnishing your mountain home, picking up a gift for a friend, or just checking out the funky, fun art, it's hard to leave without finding something you love! Be sure to stop in our office in Cooper Creek after you soak it all in at Uptripping. We'd love to connect with you!
