The H.O.P.E Fund is Dedicated to Supporting Mental Health here in Grand County
The need for mental health awareness, resources, and access in Grand County has long been evident. While our community and its number of full-time residents has grown in the past few years, we still face challenges that come with living in a rural community, including limited resources and funding to support mental health and substance abuse.
The H.O.P.E. Fund, managed by the Grand Foundation, is committed to addressing those challenges and giving Grand County's residents the level of access and care they need. The fund had its inception in 2021 with donations made in memory of those we've lost to suicide or drug overdose. H.O.P.E. - Healing Opportunities through Prevention Efforts - is dedicated to supporting and expanding mental health advocacy and services, substance abuse prevention and recovery services, and access to outdoor recreation to support mental and physical well-being here in Grand County.
BUILDING HOPE GRAND
One of the H.O.P.E. Fund's most effective avenues for supporting mental health and addressing substance abuse is the Building HOPE Grand website. The resources on the site educate around available resources. On it, you can find a directory of local counselors, psychiatrists, and primary care providers; mental health resources including addiction care, support groups, and crisis lines; financial resources for individuals struggling with the costs of mental health services; and provider grants for those who need financial support to provide services in Grand County.
The site also shares the story of a local family, one we know and love deeply, who lost their son to a battle with addiction. The memorial fund they established in his honor has led to all the work the H.O.P.E. fund has been able to do to raise awareness, provide access to resources, and reduce the stigma around mental illness and substance abuse.
SUPPORT
Should you want to support the H.O.P.E. Fund and its efforts financially, you can donate on the Grand Foundation website. Just be sure to pick "HOPE Fund" when asked if the gift is restricted.
You just missed our favorite fundraiser! They auctioned off lift chairs from the Pioneer Lift at Winter Park Resort to raise support for the H.O.P.E. Fund, so if you see one of those around town, know that its sale helped support local mental health and substance abuse services!
