Get Out With Our Local Snowmobiling Outfitters & Guides

snowmobile tour grand county winter park coWinter Park Resort was voted the best ski resort in North America by USA Today readers, so it’s easy to simply picture a “ski town” when you think of our little mountain community. But the opportunities to play in the snow extend well beyond skiing and snowboarding. The expansive national forests, miles of trails, and untouched snowy meadows are full of powder stashes that offer snowmobiling fun for all ability levels. The thrill of snowmobiling is real–it’s hard to stop smiling when ripping through a blank canvas of untracked snow or navigating through a forest trail. Already hooked? Haven’t tried it yet? Would love to join a tour with an experienced guide? Or prefer to rent and head out on your own? Our local snowmobiling outfitters and guides can customize your experience, setting you up with all you need to get out and experience Grand County off the beaten path.

Grand Adventures

This locally owned and operated company serves both the Winter Park/Fraser Valley and the Grand Lake area. Their love of adventure and expert knowledge will make your experience with them seamless and fun! They offer both guided and unguided options.

UNGUIDED

grand lake co snowmobileComfortable on a snowmobile? The opportunity to rent sleds and explore independently near either location is offered. Get acquainted with the machine and the area, grab a provided map, and head out on the well-marked trails to explore the largest open-bowl play area in the county. Two and four-hour rentals are currently available in both Winter Park and Grand Lake. Both locations offer the base model Ski Doo Grand “Trail” Touring (600cc 4-stroke), which is great for beginners and those that stick to the trails. If you want to ride with a friend or family member, these machines accommodate one or two riders. The Grand Lake location also offers the option of renting the higher performance Ski Doo Summit (600cc 2-stroke, 155in track, 2.5in paddles), but this model is only available for single riders without passengers. You’ll still get the benefit of Grand Adventure’s expertise but get to make your own adventure on your own time as you explore the Rockies with the power of a snowmobile.

GUIDED

They offer a variety of ride options for all ability and comfort levels:

FRASER TRAILBLAZER TOURS

Opt for a one, two or three-hour Trailblazer tour. Cruise through Arapaho National Forest and see breathtaking views of the Continental Divide, Fraser Valley, and Rocky Mountain National Park in Fraser’s Church’s Park. This tour is outside of town, giving you a reprieve from the crowds and an opportunity to see the county from the top.

CONTINENTAL DIVIDE ADVENTURE TOUR

Looking for a birds-eye view? This two or three-hour tour is a genuine gem as Grand County’s only Continental Divide tour on snowmobiles. Great for all levels with well-groomed trails that head up Corona Pass with views of the entire Winter Park Resort and Fraser Valley.

GRAND LAKE TOUR

Experience Grand Lake and the areas surrounding Rocky Mountain National Park in a whole new way with this three-hour tour. While many consider Grand Lake a summer town, it transforms into a snowmobile haven in the winter. With 300 miles of trails and seemingly endless backcountry terrain, it’s easy to see why Grand Lake has earned the title of “Snowmobile Capital of Colorado.” The town is so snowmobile-friendly that it’s even legal to cruise the streets on your sled!

Grand Adventure's primarily trail tour will show you how much fun you can have in the local terrain…you might even have to rent machines for your own unguided adventure the next day!

Stop in their storefront on Main Street at Hideaway Station in Winter Park (78311 Highway 40) to chat about opportunities to get out on on a snowmobile and check out their gear, book online, or give them a call to plan your adventure.

ON THE TRAIL

UNGUIDED

Head out directly from their outfit to the North Supply Kiosk (part of the Stillwater OHV Trail System) on any of their various sled options.

INTRODUCING YOUNG KIDS TO THE WORLD OF SNOWMOBILING?

Check out the mini-snowmobiles and track at Colorado Adventure Park in Fraser! Serious fun for young kids lapping the course–give them the adrenaline rush and get them hooked at a young age!

WHAT TO WEAR

Layers, layers, layers! Being prepared for all possible weather will make your experience even more enjoyable. Even if it seems warm out, the speed of the snowmobile and varying mountain temperatures can cool you off quickly! Dress like you’re headed skiing: snow pants, gloves, and goggles are a must. Bring a face mask, neck gaiter, or scarf. Helmets (DOT certified) are provided by both outfitters, and Grand Adventures includes snowmobiling boots in all rentals. Remember a water bottle, sunscreen (even if it looks cloudy!), and a camera to document your time in one of the top snowmobiling destinations in the country!
