Showtime! Rocky Mountain Repertory Brings the Magic of Live, Professional Theater to the Stage in Grand Lake
Grand Lake's summertime charm is undeniable. Whether you're out on the scenic alpine lake, sitting shoreside, hiking, exploring Rocky Mountain National Park, or enjoying the old-fashioned boardwalk on Grand Avenue with an ice cream in hand, you're sure to be feeling the summer vibes in Grand County's quaint little town.
And with the longer, warmer days comes theatre season in Grand Lake. Most don't typically equate small mountain towns with a lively arts scene, but the Grand Lake's Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre brings "big city" productions to our little idyllic gateway-to-the-national-park town. The level of production is on par with the way our community "goes big or goes home" - their shows mesmerize locals and vacationers alike with their Broadway-caliber talented acting, imaginative set design, and big-sound orchestras in a state-of-the-art theater. It's easy to see why it's been dubbed "Colorado's Premier Summer Musical Company."
SCHEDULE
Shows typically start for the summer at the end of May or first of June, with productions running all the way through September. Check out the current shows and schedule, get your tickets online, and get ready to be impressed with an evening at the theater right here in Grand County!
YOUTH THEATRE WORKSHOPS
RMRT not only puts on its own productions, it invests in the next generation. They've been offering youth summer theatre workshops since 1998 and now serve more than 100 youth aged 7-18 each summer. Kids are given the opportunity to learn from and alongside critically acclaimed teaching artists from around the country. They sharpen their craft, collaborate with other artists, and grow their onstage (and offstage!) confidence. Each program runs for two weeks at a time and includes age-appropriate technique and skill-building exercises as well as the rehearsal of a one-act musical theatre performance. It is such a gift to have this opportunity for our youth right here in the county.
SUPPORT
Rocky Mountain Rep is an established nonprofit and accepts donations. They're currently raising support for housing units for their professional company members with the Raise the Roof campaign. You can also volunteer at a show! Volunteers serve as greeters, ushers, and bartenders. An added bonus - volunteers can watch the show if there is room available!
