Where to Find Local Emergency, Urgent Care, Walk-in, Specialty, and Primary Care Services
Whether you're a long-time local, just joined our community (welcome!), or are thinking about making a move to the mountains, you might find yourself in need of medical services here in Grand County. We are grateful for how our small, rural community's health care resources have expanded in the past few years as the area grows and more and more people call this place home. So even if you've lived here awhile, you might find that there is more available than the last time you checked! We've put together a list of local emergency, urgent, primary, and specialty care options in the Winter Park area, so you'll know your options when the time comes!
EMERGENCY ROOMS
Googling emergency rooms when you're in an actual emergency is not on anyone's bucket list. Should you need to rush to the ER when you're in the Winter Park area, the only 24/7 emergency room on the east side of Grand County is at Middle Park Health in Granby. If you're heading toward Granby from Winter Park, Middle Park Health is on the right off Highway 40 before you get to the bridge that leads into the downtown area. They also have a Kremmling location should that be closer. Denver Health's Winter Park Medical Center at the base of Winter Park Resort also provides emergency services, but they're typically open when the resort is open (read: not your middle-of-the-night destination).
URGENT CARE & WALK-IN CLINiCS
Not a total emergency situation but in need of more immediate care? Middle Park Health offers walk-in clinic and urgent care services at their Winter Park Location (right around the corner from our office in Cooper Creek Square) on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays 8am-5pm. The WP clinic treats injuries and illnesses such as the flu, common cold, urinary tract infections, eye infections, rashes, wounds, sprains, broken bones, cuts, respiratory illnesses, and other mild to moderate concerns. Some patients may require referral for emergency services at Middle Park Health's Granby campus, but most receive treatment directly from the clinic in Cooper Creek. Middle Park Health in Granby also offers walk-in clinic services on Saturdays 10am-4pm. Denver Health's Winter Park Medical Center at Winter Park Resort offers urgent care services as well. Their hours are typically 9am-5pm seven days a week.

Their idealized micro-practice makes plenty of time for patients, with appointment times starting at one hour.

Their team of providers offers well visits, pediatric care, preventative medicine, imaging, lab screenings, and general diagnosis and treatment for non-urgent health concerns.
WINTER PARK MEDICAL CENTER (Denver Health): Winter Park Resort - 970-726-4299
Hours: 9am-5pm 7 days/week
You might not guess it, but the clinic at the base of Winter Park Resort isn't just for ski and bike injuries! They operate a full-scale primary care clinic as well. Their group of providers based in both Winter Park and Denver offer pediatric, sports medicine, gynecology, internal medicine, and maternity/pregnancy care.
SPECIALTY CARE
Middle Park Health in Granby also offers specialty care including orthopaedics, gynecology, podiatry, dermatology, urology, and cardiology. While some of the services are based in-house, Middle Park Health partners with several providers whose primary offices are based outside of Grand County and who come to Middle Park Health to see patients regularly. For example, Vail-Summit Orthopaedics provides orthopedic services to Grand County, and several of their providers are based in Vail or Summit County. Middle Park Health even offers orthopedic care at their Winter Park location on Wednesdays. We're grateful our small-town hospital has formed these partnerships that allow them to offer specialty services to our growing community!
NEW HOSPITAL COMING TO FRASER/WINTER PARK!
Middle Park Health has plans to open a hospital campus on the Winter Park end of the county! Set to break ground in early April 2024, the hospital's two-story, 30,000-square-foot Fraser campus will be behind the Grand Park Recreation Center, near Telemark Drive and Highway 40.
The first floor will include emergency medical services, four emergency exam rooms, two trauma bays, two licensed hospital beds, CT, X-ray, and lab services. The second floor will be saved for expanding community needs. The campus will also be home to a helicopter pad, giving it the ability to provide flight for life services. Check out the fly-through rendition video to get a sneak peek into plans for the building!
