Get to Know Local Gym + Fitness Class Options

Grand County is known for its endless opportunities for outdoor recreation and exercise right in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Skiing, snowboarding, hiking, biking, and more are cornerstones of the mountain life, and we are so grateful for this outdoor playground we call home. But there are times you're ready to move that workout indoors! The weather might not be cooperating. You might be focused on building strength, stamina, and flexibility at the gym to optimize your outdoor exercise performance. Or maybe you love the camaraderie and consistency of group workouts. Whether you're hitting the gym everyday or on occasion, our mountain towns are home to a variety of indoor fitness options!

WINTER PARK

Elevate Pilates and Physical Therapy, located in Winter Park Station right in the heart of downtown Winter Park, is a one-of-a-kind pilates studio that is so much more than just a place to get a quick workout in. It is a place of connection where you'll find a community of people in it together: rooting for, encouraging, and inspiring each other. With a range of studio and private class options from pilates ski conditioning to osteolates, you're sure to find an offering you (and your body) love. Not only can you work up a good sweat at Elevate, they also offer some of the best physical therapy in town as well as massage therapy - a unique integrative approach that integrates wellness, healing, and full-body health. And we love how Elevate partners with local funds to benefit our community. They offer classes like Pink Month Candlelight Movement and Meditation and Solstice Movement Celebrations at the Broome Hut, donation-only events with anything raised passed on to funds like the H.O.P.E. Fund dedicated to providing mental health access and the Brammer Family Fund that supports local families as they navigate cancer diagnoses and treatment.

Mountain Moon Yoga, was based in Winter Park Station and just across the courtyard from Elevate Pilates for years and has has been serving Grand County since 1996. They offer Hatha, flow, Yin, destress & renew, and more as well as guided meditation. They've currently moved beyond their space downtown, traveling to Winter Park's Wolf Park for outdoor classes,  "The Center" at the Church of the Eternal Hills in Tabernash, and the Hot Sulphur Springs Town Hall. They also have a few online offerings. Check out their current full schedule here

FRASER

The Grand Park Recreation Center in Fraser, just outside of Winter Park on Highway 40, is the go-to gym that Grand County locals dreamed of for years and is now a reality (and staple of our community). The expansive facility has a dedicated fitness center that includes elliptical machines, treadmills, exercise bikes, free weights, a group fitness room, and more. Check out the expansion project to learn more about the addition of another group fitness room, dedicated HIIT space, and additional free weight area! The fitness center also offers a small indoor running/walking track that circles above the gymnastics center and basketball gym. You'll definitely get your laps in if you're in it for the long haul - fourteen laps make a mile, but you'll be smiling every lap when the weather outside takes an outdoor run off the table. And if you're looking for a group class, personal trainer, or even nutrition coaching, they offer a wealth of options

Studio, the yoga venue you might know as "The Yellow House" is tucked in the cute downtown Fraser neighborhood adjacent to Sharky's Eatery - this little gem of a wellness collaborative is officially called Gather Collective. A boutique yoga studio and full-service spa home to Inner Peace Massage, Grand Pearl Wellness, and Breathe Co. TABERNASH

Thin Air Fitness, located  just off Highway 40 behind the post office in Tabernash, has been a Grand County staple for over 15 years. It got its start as one of the very first CrossFit establishments in the valley. As they evolved over time, they've diversified their group classes and now offer a little bit of something for everyone: HIIT, circuit, ski conditioning, strength-based, and yoga classes make up their full weekly calendar. You can choose to drop in, get a punch card (3, 5, or 10 classes), or sign up for the unlimited monthly option.

GRANBY

Granby Yoga Barn is right in the heart of downtown Granby on 1st Street. The hard-to-miss blue barn is right around the corner from the post office in an easy-to-access, central location. The building was constructed in the early 1900s and has been home to a lumber yard, recycling center, and more over the years. We love the way the team at the Granby Yoga Barn has repurposed the space to create such a welcoming, warm environment. With options like vinyasa, yin, restorative, heated vinyasa, and midday mix (combination of wall pilates and beginner yoga), they have yoga options for diverse levels and styles. Check out their schedule to find the option that best suits your yoga style.

Mountain Beast mixed martial arts and fitness center is right on the east side of Highway 40 in Granby, sharing a building with Legacy Building Specialties. Mountain Beast offers adult, teen, and children mixed martial arts classes, including wrestling and Brazilian jujitsu. But they're more than just an MMA gym - they have a full fitness facility including free weights, cardio equipment, and Cybex machines. They accommodate several lifting styles from bodybuilding to powerlifting to Olympic lifting. And, best of all, the fitness facility is open and available 24/7!

Stand Firm CrossFit is the county's only official CrossFit gym. Located on Highway 40 to the west of downtown Granby, just west of Debbie's Diner, Stand Firm offers classes Monday - Friday with several different time options to accommodate a variety of schedules. Choose from 5:45am, 7am, 8:15am, 4:30pm, and 5:30pm five days a week. You can drop in for a class, pick up a punch card, or get an unlimited monthly membership.

Housed in what used to be Grand Lake Elementary School, it is home to the only fitness center in the Grand Lake area. Get your cardio in on one of the several ellipticals, treadmills, upright and incumbent bikes, stair steppers and row machines. Or hit the strength-training room full of weight-lifting machines, free weights, weighted medicine balls, kettle bells and Bosu. Other rooms have space for open fitness (yoga mats, exercise balls, and light weights) as well as a boxing area with punching bags, mats, a stationary bike, and a speed bag.  They also have an indoor walking track, a welcome option on those blustery winter days!
