I might be a little biased, but our Grand County small towns really do Halloween right. From Granby's Main Street Trick-or-Treat to Grand Lake's Ghost + Gourds Gathering, Winter Park's Halloween Bash at Cooper Creek Square, and trick-or-treating in Fraser’s Old Town, the enthusiasm is absolutely infectious - and the fun just keeps coming!
If you’ll be in the mountains for the holiday this year, there’s no shortage of family-friendly festivities. So mark your calendars, costume up, and hit the town for a spooktacular Halloween 2025!
SUN OUTDOORS PUMPKIN PATCH
Saturday, October 11: 11am-3pm
Kick off Halloween at Sun Outdoors! While it is a popular Grand County camping destination, the sprawling property on the corner of Highway 40 and Highway 34 in Granby offers so much more with a fun, relaxing atmosphere for a fall celebration.
The 5th Annual Pumpkin Patch at Sun Outdoors Rocky Mountains, located on the corner of Highway 40 and Highway 34 in Granby, takes place on the lawn next to the playground and offers a fun-filled fall celebration for the whole family. Pick a pumpkin ($6, $8, or $12), jump in the costume contest at 1 p.m., and enjoy free hayrides, family photos, goody bags, and live music. Local craft vendors will be on hand, and sweet treats will be available from Charlie’s Frozen Treat Shop, Micki’s Sweet Sensations, and Kona Ice, along with a hot dog, chips, and drink for $10. You can even test your skills in the corn hole tournament. Park the event center or along Byers Peak Parkway, and tickets for pumpkins and lunch can be purchased inside Summit Grill. Sun Outdoors has a fun playground and plenty of open space, so you can make an afternoon of it!
GRAND LAKE GHOSTS + GOURDS GATHERING
Saturday, October 25: 12-4pm
Head to Grand Lake's Town Park for a day full of fall fun! The Ghost and Gourds Gathering is a free community event packed with festive activities. Pick out a pumpkin, get your face painted, decorate your own gourd, and join the costume contest! Don’t miss the free caricature drawings by Stan Yan - always a hit.
After the park festivities, go trick-or-treating along the boardwalk. Just look for a pumpkin in the window to see which shops are handing out treats.
Enjoy the charm of Grand Lake in all its fall beauty - and if you’re up for it, cap off the afternoon with a scenic drive through Rocky Mountain National Park. You might even hear the last of the elk bugling!
COOPER CREEK SQUARE HALLOWEEN BASH
Saturday, October 25: 4-6pm
I'll be ready for you at our West + Main Grand County office on the second floor of Cooper Creek Square during this year's Halloween Bash! Stop by for some candy, a drink, and to say hi as you make the rounds with your kiddos (or let them make the rounds while you hang out!). I always love this local-favorite event, and having an office in the heart of it makes it even better. The businesses in Cooper Creek go big for the event every year, with a seemingly endless flow of candy ready for trick-or-treaters in the intimate, safe environment right in downtown Winter Park. And the spooky photo booth and DJ dance party just add to the energy! After the treat bags are full and the last song plays, it's easy to grab dinner at one of Cooper Creek's restaurants.
GRANBY MAIN STREET TRICK-OR-TREAT
Friday, October 31: 4-6pm
What a “treat” - Granby’s Trick or Treat Main Street falls on Halloween this year! This family-favorite evening brings the whole community together for trick-or-treating right in the heart of downtown. Businesses up and down Main Street will be ready with goodies for all the little ghosts and goblins, and the Visitor’s Center will once again be the hub of the action with snacks and a festive photo booth to capture the fun!
Don’t miss the extra Halloween happenings around town, including the not-too-scary Haunted House, “A Wicked Good Time,” at the Grand County Library District, the Trunk or Treat event at Middle Park High School, and the Haunted Train at the Moffat Road Railroad Museum.
And remember to dress for the weather — it’s Grand County, after all! Puffy jackets and beanies are often the finishing touch to Halloween costumes around here. So bundle up, hit Main Street, and soak up the small-town charm of this annual tradition — a perfect snapshot of our wonderful community coming together to celebrate.
DOWNTOWN FRASER TRICK-OR-TREAT
Friday, October 31: 5-7pm
If you're looking for that door-to-door trick-or-treating experience, the local go-to is the Old Town Fraser neighborhood. Just to the west of Highway 40 in the heart of Fraser, the houses in this quaint little Fraser neighborhood always go big for Halloween. And they always celebrate on Halloween proper, so you keep the party going by spending October 31st cruising the neighborhood, ringing doorbells, collecting candy, and checking out the over-the-top decorations. Our expansive, rural community doesn't necessarily lend itself to the neighborhood trick-or-treating you might find in the suburbs, but our little downtown Fraser celebration makes trick-or-treating a memorable experience for all!
HAUNTED TRAIN: MOFFAT ROAD RAILROAD MUSEUM
Friday, October 31: 4:30-7:30PM
The Moffat Railroad Museum in Granby loves to celebrate holidays! From the free community Easter egg hunt to a visit from Santa and his reindeer at Christmas, the museum prides itself on being a place where the community can gather. On Halloween night, the 1905 Passenger Coach transforms into a spooky, creaky railcar, complete with ghouls and goblins. The haunted train is designed for brave 5 year olds and up, but trick or treating is available for all ages throughout the museum's grounds. Cost is $4 (cash only) per person.
HOT SULPHUR SPRINGS PARADE + TRUNK-OR-TREAT
Saturday, November 1: 1-5pm
Celebrate the spooky season in Hot Sulphur Springs! Enjoy crafts and trick-or-treating at the Pioneer Village Museum from 1-3:30pm before you join the town parade in costume at 3:30. Be sure to meet at the post office if you'd like to be a part of the parade! Then head over to the Courthouse parking lot for trunk-or treating with the sheriff's office and other first responders from 4-5pm.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
I hope you get to enjoy Halloween in the mountains this year! It's always fun to see the community come together and celebrate. As a long-time local, my decades of living and working in Grand County help keep me on the pulse for all things community - feel free to reach out with any questions! I’d love to share my love for this place and help point you in the right direction should you be looking for local information, resources, or events!
