Powder Days, Sunshine, Live Music, and Themed Events Make April at Winter Park Resort a Month-Long Party!

April showers and May flowers might signal spring in most places, but here in Winter Park, spring brings powder days, bluebird skies, snow "beaches," sunny patios, and a calendar full of events to celebrate the ski season and warmer weather. We shed the layers and embrace the climbing temperatures every spring - early morning skins up the Jane might have us in a t-shirt by the time we reach The Olympia, and the sun is still shining on that last chair that drops us off for a final run down a soft line to our favorite après deck.

With spring break winding down and town a little quieter, we get to experience the the best of spring each April - prime skiing, quick lift lines, and warmer temps make for days on the mountain you want to play on repeat. And the enthusiasm is palpable! Colorful costumes, contagious smiles, and gleeful shouts from skiers and boarders making their way down the mountain are evidence of a vibe that just can't be replicated. And the month-long party Winter Park Resort throws to close out the ski season adds to the festive atmosphere with live music, fun events, and iconic yearly traditions with its annual Spring Bash + Splash

SATURDAY, APRIL 5: THEBIGWONDERFUL BEERFEST + BLUEGRASS

Back again this year, the 7th Annual TheBigWonderful brings all the good stuff together at the base of Winter Park Resort: live music, beer tasting, and a craft market can be enjoyed between slushy bump runs or buttery groomers. Enjoy bluegrass tunes while you shop from over forty Colorado makers featuring a wide range of outdoor apparel, locally-made jewelry, unique gifts, and more! And over 20 locally breweries will be set up throughout the event. You'll need a ticket to enjoy beerfest and  can purchase tickets in advance online. There will be a limited number of day-of tickets for sale, including an option for a discounted "last hour" ticket if you're just hoping to try a few brews without making an afternoon of it.

11am - 1pm: DJ Eric Figueroa on the main stage

11am -5pm: craft vendor village open

12pm - ticketing booth opens (buy day-of tickets; pick up your tasting glass and wristband up)

1pm - 5pm: Beerfest open

3-4:30pm: Pixie and the Party Grass Boys on the main stage

SATURDAY, APRIL 12: CARVE OUT HOPE + BUCKET BANKED SLALOM

We love how Winter Park Resort is dedicating one of its Bash + Splash events to raising awareness and supporting our community's mental health. The Carve Out Hope event benefits the Grand Foundation's H.O.P.E. Fund, a local non-profit. Healing Opportunities through Prevention Efforts (H.O.P.E.) is dedicated to supporting and expanding mental health advocacy and services, substance abuse prevention and recovery services, and access to outdoor recreation to support mental and physical well-being here in Grand County. The Carve Out Hope event will feature live music, resources for mental wellness, and the bucket banked slalom snowboard competition.

What's a bucket banked slalom, you ask? It's a snowboard race held on a curvy course, with tight banked turns. One racer runs the course at a time, and each racer gets two runs. And you know the Bucket Banked Slalom silent auction is sure to be full of goodies!

After the DJ finishes up, Rob Drabkin will be playing live at the base from 3-4pm.

SATURDAY, APRIL 19: NINETIES RETRO BASH & HIGH FIVES RETRO SHRED -A-THON

This throwback party pays tribute to all things 90s, complete with Colorado's favorite 90s cover band: 90 Percent 90s! Think Blink 182, Smashing Pumpkins, and the Gin Blossoms. Feeling nostalgic? Check out their song list here, and be sure to catch their show from 3-4:30pm. The 90s Retro Bash will be complete with a costume contest, retro photo Booth, 90s snack bar, and themed pop up experiences.

You can even participate in the 10th Annual High Fives Retro Shred-a-Thon, a fundraiser for adaptive athletes and veterans. 100 participants can sign up online in advance, raise at least $150, and spend the day tracking their laps for an amazing cause. Prizes and incentives are up for grabs for top fundraisers - think rad gear and unforgettable experiences! High Fives even just released matching funds to help participants get closer to their goals faster!

So start digging through your costume box and find that neon windbreaker that's just waiting to be busted out! You were made for this.

SATURDAY, APRIL 26: BEACH BASH

Who needs a beach vacation when you can find your beach right at the base of Winter Park Resort? Enjoy the DJ followed by live reggae music from The Expendables (3-4:30pm) while playing lawn games or lounging in a beach chair with an umbrella in your drink as you cheers to the last weekend on the Winter Park side!

SUNDAY, APRIL 27: SPRING SPLASH

What's closing day on the Winter Park side of Winter Park Resort without Spring Splash? This iconic celebration is an all-day party complete with a DJ and pond skim competition. Costumes abound, and the Hawaiian beach party vibe is in full force. A staple closing-day celebration at Winter Park Resort since the 1960s, "Splash" participants have a basic challenge: make it across the pond with style. Want to give it a go? Registration is limited to the first 100 (18+) participants to sign up outside the Balcony House, starting at 8am the day of (so be sure to snag your spot in line early!). Whether you try your hand at pond skimming or stake out a spot to cheer the participants on, Splash is the best way to close out "park side!"
